Contemporary and thought-provoking, this year’s Westbourne Grammar School senior student production is a compelling story of courage in the face of prejudice and hatred. Based on real events surrounding the murder of a gay man in an American town, The Laramie Project challenges Westbourne's students to think deeply about the importance of choices, peer pressure and the quest for justice.
This brilliant student production speaks to more than LGBTIQ+ issues when it involves the audience in the intensity of a crime and its aftermath. Integral to the school’s program of teaching and learning, Westbourne’s drama students are actively engaged in a highly creative and intellectual process. In finding their own individual voice while working collaboratively to achieve success, the cast discover so much more about the complexities of human life and behaviour – and themselves. Absolutely not to be missed.
