
The Substation/ RISING: SHOUSE Communitas workshop/
PRESENTED BY RISING AND SHOUSE, CO-PRESENTED BY THE SUBSTATION
Communitas returns — SHOUSE’s participatory music event, inviting everyone to be part of a collective sound experience. This year’s edition expands on previous iterations, bringing together voices, instruments, and movement in an open and inclusive setting. No prior experience is required —just a willingness to engage.
MAIN EVENT AT MELBOURNE TOWN HALL
On Sunday 8 June, participants will gather at Melbourne Town Hall for the culminating performance. If you are unable to attend a workshop beforehand, you can still register your interest, and we will follow up closer to the date.
WORKSHOP AT THE SUBSTATION
In preparation for the event, SHOUSE and Deep Soulful Sweats will lead a workshop at The Substation. This session will focus on developing the songs that will be performed at Melbourne Town Hall.

WORKSHOP FOCUS
Participants will learn three structured compositions, designed for accessibility and collective participation. The session will include guided vocal and instrumental elements, with space for both individual contribution and group cohesion. Those who have participated in previous Communitas events are encouraged to return and contribute their experience.
