WHAT IS BOKAMOSO ARTS CENTRE
B.A.C is an independent arts space in Maokeng Kroonstad South Africa that opened in June 2016. It aims to deliver and enable high quality arts activities.
The space is small but versatile, providing an exhibition venue to showcase film, theatre, dance, music, words and comedy. B.A.C plays a pivotal role in linking various art forms into the future or bokamoso, hence the space's name. It's accessible to a wide range of people through its good location, well thought-out physical design and varied artistic program.
The building of Bokamoso Arts Centre was the culmination of 10 years of effort from local, and now international, artist Sello Molefi. He came together with local artists to find ways to improve community spirit through involvement in the arts, and their collective determination to create a place for arts activity, a space for ideas and possibilities, led to the opening of B.A.C.
The B.A.C vision and mission is to be the ultimate, authentic professional arts program, using the arts as an instrument to encourage social cohesion and nation-building through the promotion, recognition and preservation of local heritage. We want to stimulate participation in and appreciation of the arts to the people of Maokeng, and provide additional assistance and resources to historically disadvantaged groups to promote greater access to the arts.
MAOKENG MOTSE WA RONA is our core value of self-appreciation and ownership. Accountability; Communication; Responsibility; Objectivity.
