The Substation/ Artist/​Maria Moles/

Maria is a drummer who has been strongly active within the Melbourne improvised music community, performing and collaborating with some of Australia’s most renowned artists. She has performed with The Australian Art Orchestra, Anthony Pateras, Jim Denley, Speak Percussion, Jon Rose, Andrea Keller, James Rushford, The Splinter Orchestra, Lucas Abela, and The Hobart Improvisers Collective, and developed ongoing relationships with organisations such as Liquid Architecture, Tonelist (Perth), Nice Music, and Inland Concert Series.


Maria is currently the drummer for groundbreaking pop bands/artists Jaala, On Diamond, and Francis Plagne, and has previously drummed for Mildlife, Jess Ribeiro, Krakatau, Sui Zhen, Evelyn Ida Morris, JK Group, and Horatio Luna. This diverse experience has allowed Maria to develop a versatile and unique style, helping her gain recognition as one of Melbourne’s finest improvisers.
