Kate Robinson is an Iranian/Australian multi-disciplinary artist and award-winning podcaster based in Naarm/Melbourne. Her creative practice spans painting, vibrant craft, and large-scale murals, through which she explores her family’s history—blending memories, sisterly gossip, and sparkling narratives.
Kate has held solo exhibitions at Arts Gen and participated in the Groundwork program at Melton City Council. As the inaugural Feminist in Residence at Queen Victoria Women’s Centre, she curated the community craftivist exhibition Make a Fuss. She has also been an artist in residence at ArtsBox and is involved in Wyndham City Council’s Artist as Curator and Wearable Art Fashion Incubator programs.
Beyond her visual art, Kate is an advocate for community engagement and creative collaboration. She leads craft workshops, moderates panel discussions, and has delivered guest lectures at the University of Melbourne and Deakin University. She serves on the boards of Next Wave and the QVWC Trust, and is an active member of the Arts West Committee and Museums Victoria’s Cultural Advisory Panel.
In the realm of podcasting, Kate co-created Being Biracial, a podcast that began during a residency at Footscray Community Arts and is currently in its second season. Being Biracial is part of Museums Victoria’s Culture Makers program and has also led to the creation of the immersive stop-motion film Threads, exhibited at the Melbourne Museum and Immigration Museum.
Additionally, Kate is a storyteller on Find and Tell, a narrative podcast produced in collaboration with ARN’s iHeart and The BlackCast Podcast Network. Find and Tell won Best New Podcast at the Australian Podcast Awards this year.
