Matt Kelly and Andrew Callaghan make up I/O. As a company, they're excited by mashing together music, tech and kids. Their works are fun, sonically innovative and technically ingenious. In 2023, I/O are developing a new experimental musical work at The Substation, titled The Composers. Read more about it here.

Matt Kelly has over 20 years experience working in children’s entertainment. He is one half of the renowned kids comedy duo The Listies, who have published books, recorded albums, filmed a webseries and sold out shows around the world. Matt has a deep understanding of the way children play and is driven to use this knowledge to help adults find ways to engage, educate and entertain kids. He has made work in collaboration with the Sydney Opera Creative Learning team, Melbourne Museum, art education gurus The Songroom, Questacon and The Sydney Theatre Company. Matt’s main goal is life is to bring more silliness into the world.

Dr Andrew Callaghan is a composer, sound designer, researcher and educator who currently lectures in musicology and technology at the Conservatorium of Music at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Preferring to work collaboratively, his creative output explores roles for the professionalized musician and seeks new ways to share music in community contexts.
