
The Substation/ Artist/Sam Dunscombe/
Sam Dunscombe is a clarinettist, composer, electronic musician, and recording engineer working at the intersection of experimental music, audio engineering, and spectralism. Her practice explores how music shapes and expands experiences of time, spanning sound synthesis, just intonation, improvisation, complex notation, field recording, and live electronic performance.
Dunscombe has presented work for Acousmonium at INA GRM and Archipel Geneva, conducted the opening concert of MaerzMusik in 2019, and performed Eliane Radigue’s music at the Berlin Philharmonie. As a recording engineer, she has produced albums for labels such as Mode, Black Truffle, Another Timbre, Hospital Hill, Ftarri, and Modern Love, and has collaborated with composers including Cat Lamb, Anthony Pateras, Mary Jane Leach, and Iancu Dumitrescu.
