Resident Program EOI/
Join our artistic community by making a home for your creative practice at The Substation in Newport. We are seeking expressions of interest from artists and companies working across disciplines for two private studio space that are available for a two-year term.
We’re looking to connect with artists, collectives and companies working across forms — including visual art, sound, performance, dance and beyond — whose practices align with our multi-artform vision. Our studio residents are part of a wider community of artists who are imagining alternative futures, interrogating inherited narratives, and connecting across disciplines and cultures.
Joining the Resident Program includes:
- Lockable, private studio/office space (approx 16m2) on the ground and accessible 24/7
- Minimum 1 week use of additional spaces for meetings and rehearsals within the building (Main Space, Dance Studio, Galleries) per annum as agreed with The Substation
- Professional development opportunities through engagement and exchange within The Substation’s community, professional networks, and programming, including invitations to performances and exhibitions.
- Open dialogue with The Substation regarding the development and presentation of new work.
- Two-year tenure
Artists currently in residence include Peter Waples-Crowe, Tra Mi Dinh, Rawcus, Australian Art Orchestra and Western Edge Youth Arts.
We encourage applications from artists whose work will benefit from time, space and connection, and who see value in contributing to the wider ecology of The Substation.
Applications close midnight Sunday 6 July.
