PRESENTED BY WILLIAMSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL
The Williamstown High School Graduate Art & Design Exhibition presents the work of VCE Art Making and Exhibiting, Media and Visual Communication Design students from local school, Williamstown High School.
The artworks created by the Art Making and Exhibiting graduates range in style and ideas, bringing to light key themes for young contemporary artists today. Topics explored include youth, relationships, gender, the micro and macro verse, experiences of mental illness, fear, sexuality, life and death and the natural processes of rot and decay, and more. The art forms utilised to convey these ideas include painting, drawing, photography, video, digital and sculpture.
The final presentations by the Visual Communication Design graduates span communication, environmental and industrial design fields, and use both manual and digital methods. Students have explored their established design problems through an extensive process from brief to final presentations. Their final designs appeal to the characteristics of their target audience and satisfy their clients’ needs and nominated constraints and expectations. The final designs of the cohort demonstrate their ability to creatively problem solve, utilise design thinking techniques and execute professional presentations, bringing to life works that are resolved to the highest standard.
Media students researched, planned, and produced their final print and photography products. Working through the five stages of production, they developed their narrative ideas and established specific intentions and audiences for their media products. This was refined and resolved using reflection and feedback. There are some amazing works on display in the Media section of this exhibition.
The Substation is proud to support this exhibition through our community partnerships program.
