The Williamstown High School Graduate Art & Design Exhibition presents the work of VCE Studio Arts and Visual Communication Design students from local school, Williamstown High School.
The artworks created by the Studio Arts graduates range in style and ideas, bringing to light key themes for young contemporary artists today. Topics explored include youth, nostalgia, synaesthesia, the micro and macro verse, experiences of mental illness, fear, the esoteric, life and death and the natural processes of rot and decay, and more. Art forms that have been utilised to convey these ideas include painting, drawing, photography, video, digital and sculpture.
The final presentations by the Visual Communication Design graduates span communication, environmental and industrial design fields, and utilise both manual and digital methods. Students have explored their established design problems through an extensive process from brief to final presentations. Their final designs appeal to the characteristics of their target audience and satisfy their clients’ needs and nominated constraints and expectations. The final designs of the cohort demonstrate their ability to creatively problem solve, utilise design thinking techniques and execute professional presentations, bringing to life works that are resolved to the highest standard.
The Substation is proud to support this exhibition through our community partnerships program.
