The Substation/ Midsumma Westside Opening Event/

To announce the start of Midsumma Westside, a partnership with Brimbank, Maribyrnong, Wyndham and Hobsons Bay to celebrate the LGBTIQA+ community, The Substation will be hosting a launch for local Midsumma Westside activities on Sunday, 23 January, 2pm to 4pm alongside the opening of Matto Lucas’ Impossible Dance (iv) in the outdoor billboard gallery.
Impossible Dance (iii) & (iv) are new multi-venue outdoor exhibitions featuring a collection of black and white photographs that celebrate, canonise and represent queer communities in a pre-COVID world of nightlife, art and entertainment.
As part of Midsumma Westside 2022, Lucas’ photographs will be displayed at the Laneway Gallery outside Woods Street Arts Space in Laverton from 19 January – 27 February, and at The Substation from 23 January – 14 February 2022.
