PLATFORM (LOCAL)

Presented as part of Melbourne Fringe with Creative City Hobsons Bay.

A digitally-scaled recreation of The SUBSTATION building hosted inside a private Minecraft server, PLATFORM is a space for artists across visual arts and electronic music to develop and present new work.

In-game audiences are free to explore the iconic Newport building, attend exhibitions across its galleries and interact with other audience avatars. Staged over five hours, players will explore brand new landscapes and view select works by Western region artists from the Woods Street Youth Art Prize. The experience is complemented with curated DJ sets by Aboriginal not-for-profit organisation Tongberang’i Ngarrga Inc.

Audiences can choose to watch a live broadcast of the entire event on the night OR pre-book a ticket to attend in Minecraft. Registrations to attend in Minecraft will close at 7pm on 18 November.

Please note, to attend PLATFORM in Minecraft, you will need:

  • A copy of Minecraft - we run our game on the official version (or bedrock version) of Minecraft

About our LOCAL lineup

The Woods Street Youth Art Prize showcases the artistic talent and innovation of young people aged 14 to 25 from Melbourne’s western region. Presented by Laverton’s Woods Street Arts Space, this year’s Woods Street Youth Art Prize took the exhibition experience online, with exhibiting artists responding to the theme ‘A New Power – Finding a Voice.’

Tongberang’i Ngarrga Inc. is a voluntary, not-for-profit Aboriginal organisation, who create dance music gatherings, cultural events, and community based programs for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community. Originally operating as consultants to support music festivals in incorporating cultural understanding and celebration into festivities, Tongberang’i Ngarrga Inc now facilitates their own community programs and music events, with a focus on promoting reconciliation and cultural celebration through dance, storytelling and music.
