Translated directly from Greek, Exofilla means "front covers" but also literally "outer leaves."

Photographer and art director Traianos Pakioufakis' practice often sees him arranging his photographs on the inner pages of publications and on the covers of albums or books. Exofilla further explores Pakioufakis' interest in the page itself: how the image sits within assigned margins, often creating a secondary composition by accounting for negative space or the constrained proportions of a particular medium. Even in a digital realm, Pakioufakis' works often appear bound to a physical space or secondary material.

The billboard exhibition at The Substation contains six photographs made between 2008 and 2019 in Athens, Waroona, Sydney, Chania, Los Angeles, and Palermo respectively.
