The Substation/ Artist/Nampei Akaki (JAPAN)/
Nampei Akaki is a photographer. Or rather “an ink-jet printer artist”. The reality he constantly records via his hyper-individual perception is immediately transformed into objects of various natures, should they medium be paper, fabric, plastic or a piece of wall. The forthwith method results in a feeling of the copied reality still pulsing in the resulting objects. While projecting the map of his perceptions onto the exhibition space, Akaki Nampei describes the observed world coherently, but avoids referring to the common definitions or imposing an additional sense over them. The language of this description is the arrangement of the structures, the reflecting lights, the dashes of colour; all that positioned in perpetual series of resemblance. Nampei attempts to subjectively define the reality using the universal means of photography. He does that by the constantly repeating the layouts and creating a stream of identified relations while still being excited by what he sees.
