New Creation is imagined as a multi-layered audience experience. A journey that is visual, visceral, transformative and interactive. As we continue to accelerate into a future where our interaction with natural and technological worlds blurs, New Creation seeks to ask questions about the intersection of technology and mortality.
As a performance, the work takes place in a re-imagined Garden of Eden, a site of ritual where performers undergo a metamorphosis, searching for ways to ‘enter the flesh again’ in a world constantly being remade. With sound composition by UK producer Clark, AV gaming environment (artist tbc) and a central set design by Marg Horwell that allows for experiential audience movement in and around the performance area, and which transports both audience and performer into an elemental other-world.
Melanie is an Australian/Javanese choreographer and performer. As a performer she has worked with various companies and artists such as Kobalt Works | Arco Renz (B), Club Guy and Roni (N), Tino Seghal (G), Antony Hamilton (AUS), Luke George (AUS) and Lucy Guerin (AUS), performing worldwide.
