The Substation/ Artist/Fabio Perletta/
Fabio Perletta is a sound artist and professor living and working in Italy.
His work encompasses recorded compositions, performances, site-specific installations, text scores, online projects and participative actions.
In my work, I explore the tensions and equilibriums that coexist between presence and space, silence and noise, focus and perception, word and meaning. I seek to create expanded experiences in which I unveil the complexity, multiplicity, and transient nature of auditory realities, with a cross-language addressed to a shared subjectivity that often employs unconventional forms of participation. I am particularly interested in how time and slow natural processes affect the fruition of artwork and influence human perception, memory and relationships with other humans, the natural and the virtual.
Drawing inspiration from microbiology, quantum physics and Zen practices, my research pivots on the ambiguity between the material and immaterial, fostering their entanglement and divergence within the same vocabulary.
My practice reveals an inner discipline that goes beyond the scope of rational coordinates, whilst addressing everyday actions and small things.
Perletta's work has appeared at at the 60th Venice Biennale, Teatrino / Palazzo Grassi (Venice), Pollinaria (Civitella Casanova), A×S Festival (Pasadena), Human Resources (Los Angeles), BlueProject Foundation (Barcelona), Arts Santa Mònica (Barcelona), Museo De Arte Moderno (Medellín), Musee National des Arts Asiatiques Guimet (Paris), Screen City Biennial (Stavanger), Ultima Festival (Oslo), Bonjour!
