The Substation/ Artist/​Benjamin Hurley/

Benjamin Hurley is a queer identifying independent dancer, choreographer and teacher based in Naarm who graduated from the VCA in 2016. They have had an extensive international career performing in numerous festivals with renowned companies including Phillip Adams BalletLab (Dance Massive, Melbourne Festival), Dance Theatre Heidelberg (under the direction of Ivan Perez), Trisha Brown Dance Company (Venice Art Biennale Danza Project), and Strange Fruit (Moomba Festival). They have also performed in works by independent artists including; Lee Serle, Deanne Butterworth, Victoria Chiu, Alessandro Sciarroni, Emily Johnson, Alice Will & Caroline, Isabelle Beauverd and Emma Riches. Their choreographic works and practice have been funded by the Ian Potter, the Besen Family Foundation and the City of Port Phillip, and supported/presented by Temperance Hall, Lucy Guerin Inc., and GUTS Dance, to name a few.

The Substation Galleries are currently closed, and will reopen on Thursday 30 May with 'Object of Projection' by Kim Gordon.
